The Royal Malaysian Navy’s (RMN) Second Littoral Mission Ship (LMS) Launching and Naming Ceremony has been safely executed by the Lady Sponsor, wife of Malaysian Chief of Defence Forces, Puan Sri Datin Seri Hajah Rusnah binti Haji A. Rahman.

The vessel is name LMS Sundang, which is a symbol of traditional Malay weapon.

The LMS is expected to be handed over in April 2020 after completion of the system and integration tests.

Meanwhile, the first LMS Keris was officiated in April 2019 by the Wife of Defence Minister will join the RMN fleet by December 2019.

4 LMSes are planned and built to focus patrols, enforcement and humanitarian assistance, and disaster relief or HADR for the Eastern Fleet of the RMN especially in Eastern Sabah.

Through the RMN 15 to 5 program, 18 LMSes are designed to be used to replace the Admiral Class Corvette, Speedboat Ships (FAC), Patrol crafts (PC), Mine Class Mine Mine (MCMV) and Hydrography ships.

The LMS will be equipped with 57mm / 76mm cannon, anti-ship missile, CIWS automatic cannon, VSHORAD air defence missile, sonar, torpedo and helicopter landing deck.
