China Handed Over Third LMS Handed to Royal Malaysian Navy

Qingdao, China, 14 September – The third LMS ship was officially handed over today. Malaysia’s Defence Adviser in China, First Admiral Zahid bin Abd Aziz representing the Malaysian government witnessed the Third LMS Physical Handover Ceremony between Boustead Naval Shipyard Shd Bhd and China Shipbuilding & Offshore International Co Ltd.

The Third LMS began construction on September 18, 2019 and was launched to the surface in Wuhan on 28 October 2020 by the RMN LMS Project Team. Subsequently the ship has successfully undergone tests during the port phase and at sea.

LMS is one of the five (5) ship classes in the Program Fleet Transformation 15to5 TLDM. The procurement contract for 4 LMS was signed between the Ministry of Defence Malaysia and BNSSB on 23 March 2017 in collaboration with CSOC. This Procurement Project is the first capital defence asset Procurement Project from China.

Qingdao, China, 14 September – Kapal LMS Ketiga telah diserahkan secara rasmi hari ini. Penasihat Pertahanan Malaysia di China, Laksamana Pertama Zahid bin Abd Aziz mewakili kerajaan Malaysia menyaksikan Upacara Penyerahan Fizikal LMS Ketiga di antara Boustead Naval Shipyard Shd Bhd dan China Shipbuilding & Offshore International Co Ltd.

LMS Ketiga mula dibina pada 18 September 2019 dan telah dilancarkan ke permukaan air di Wuhan pada 28 Oktober 2020 oleh Pasukan Projek LMS TLDM. Seterusnya kapal telah berjaya menjalani ujian-ujian semasa fasa pelabuhan dan di laut.

LMS merupakan salah sebuah daripada lima (5) kelas kapal di dalam Program Transformasi Armada 15to5 TLDM. Kontrak perolehan 4 buah LMS telah dimeterai di antara Kementerian Pertahanan Malaysia dengan BNSSB pada 23 Mac 2017 dengan kerjasama CSOC. Projek Perolehan ini merupakan Projek Perolehan aset pertahanan kapital yang pertama daripada negara China.
