KUCHING, 29 November 2021-The Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) and the Indonesian National Armed Forces – Air Force (TNI-AU) have carried out Joint Exercise (LATMA ELANG MALINDO) Series 28/2021 from 28 November to 3 December 2021. The opening ceremony of the exercise has held at two (2) different locations, namely at Dewan Setia, Kuching Air Base and Supadio Air Base, Pontianak, Indonesia via video conference.

LATMA ELANG MALINDO is a platform for both air forces to strengthen their interoperability capabilities in terms of personnel, equipment and procedures. Apart from being able to further strengthen diplomatic relations between the two countries through the air force, this collaboration also emphasizes the readiness of the RMAF and TNI-AU in dealing with security threats in the Malaysia-Indonesia area, especially on the border between the two countries.

The inauguration of LATMA ELANG MALINDO Series 28/2021 was completed by the TNI-AU as the host, namely Colonel Sidik Setiyono while Colonel Mohd Najib bin Saad @ Salleh RMAF as the Exercise Director for TNI-AU and RMAF. The symbolic inauguration saw the application ceremony of the exercise “patch” for TNI-AU and followed by the RMAF. Colonel Najib RMAF as the Director of Exercises has applied the exercise “patch” to the Commanding Officer No. 6 Sqn, Lt Col Ahmad Subki bin Tugimin RMAF; Chief of EXCON, Maj Nazrul Hafiz bin Zaini RMAF and representative of the SAR Detachment, Maj Muhammad bin Rosdi RMAF also witnessed by the Commander of Kuching Air Base, Col Mohd Azwan bin Mohd Pohari RMAF.

In the meantime, the RMAF and TNI-AU asked the public, especially Malaysians and Indonesians not to panic and be anxious if they see the fighter planes of both countries flying low. During the exercise, the RMAF and TNI-AU Hawk fighters will carry out training in the country’s airspace as well as Indonesian airspace which has been gazetted as a training area.


TUDM DAN TNI-AU LAKSANAKAN LATIHAN BERSAMA (LATMA ELANG MALINDO) MEMFOKUSKAN KESIAGAAN ANGKATAN UDARA MENANGANI ANCAMAN KESELAMATAN DI KAWASAN MALAYSIA-INDONESIA

KUCHING, 29 November 2021 – Tentera Udara Diraja Malaysia (TUDM) dan Tentera Nasional Indonesia–Angkatan Udara (TNI-AU) telah melaksanakan Latihan Bersama (LATMA ELANG MALINDO) Siri 28/2021 bermula 28 November hingga 3 Disember 2021. Majlis perasmian eksesais telah diadakan di dua (2) lokasi berbeza iaitu di Dewan Setia, Pangkalan Udara Kuching dan Pangkalan Udara Supadio, Pontianak, Indonesia menerusi sidang video.

LATMA ELANG MALINDO merupakan platform bagi kedua-dua angkatan udara untuk memperkasakan kemampuan daya saling operasi dari aspek keanggotaan, peralatan dan prosedur. Latihan bersama ini juga selain mampu memperkukuhkan lagi hubungan diplomasi dua negara melalui angkatan udara, kolaborasi ini turut menitik beratkan kesiapsiagaan TUDM dan TNI-AU dalam menangani ancaman keselamatan di kawasan Malaysia-Indonesia khususnya di perbatasan kedua-dua negara.

Perasmian LATMA ELANG MALINDO Siri 28/2021 telah disempurnakan oleh pihak TNI-AU selaku hos iaitu Kolonel Sidik Setiyono manakala Kolonel Mohd Najib bin Saad @ Salleh TUDM selaku Pengarah Eksesais bagi TNI – AU dan TUDM.

Simbolik perasmian menyaksikan upacara pemakaian “patch” eksesais dengan dimulai oleh pihak TNI-AU dan diikuti oleh pihak TUDM. Kolonel Najib TUDM selaku Pengarah Eksesais telah memakaikan “patch” eksesais kepada Pegawai Memerintah No. 6 Skn, Lt Kol Ahmad Subki bin Tugimin TUDM; Chief of EXCON, Mej Nazrul Hafiz bin Zaini TUDM dan wakil Detasmen SAR, Mej Muhammad bin Rosdi TUDM dengan turut disaksikan oleh Komander Pangkalan Udara Kuching, Kol Mohd Azwan bin Mohd Pohari TUDM.

Dalam pada itu, pihak TUDM dan TNI-AU meminta orang ramai khususnya rakyat Malaysia dan Indonesia agar tidak panik dan cemas sekiranya melihat pesawat pejuang kedua-dua negara terbang rendah. Sepanjang latihan dijalankan, pesawat pejuang Hawk TUDM dan TNI-AU akan melaksanakan latihan di ruang udara negara serta ruang udara Indonesia yang telah digazetkan sebagai kawasan latihan.
