PORT KLANG, 19 Sep – MMEA-RMN Cooperation Working Committee Meeting (J2KAT) No. 15/2022 was co-chaired by the Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations and Strategy, Rear Admiral Khir Junaidi bin Idris as Co-Chairman of J2KAT RMN and Director Maritime Enforcement and Coordination Division as the Acting Deputy Director General of MMEA Operations, Rear Admiral (Maritime) Hamid bin Haji Mohd Amin as Co-Chairman of J2KAT MMEA in the Bathymetry Meeting Room, National Hydrographic Center. This meeting was also attended by 16 delegates from RMN and 17 delegates from MMEA.
The J2KAT Meeting is an annual meeting organized alternately between RMN and MMEA where RMN is the organizer this year.
This meeting was started since the establishment of MMEA in 2006 and it aims to strengthen bilateral relations in addition to coordinating and improving cooperation between the two government agencies in the field of operations, exercises, intelligence, courses and information sharing.
RMN and MMEA are two entities that cannot be separated even though they differ in terms of roles and responsibilities. However, these two agencies have a heavy responsibility and trust to ensure that the sovereignty and security of the country’s maritime waters are protected from any threat.
Therefore, comprehensive cooperation between these two agencies is very important especially in dealing with various global challenges not only through maritime security threats but also the current uncertain economic position.
