SUBANG, 10 Feb 2023 – Based on the current situation of the earthquake disaster that hit Turkiye and Syria, the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) through the ATM Health Service will mobilize the staff and equipment of the Malaysia Level Three (3) Field Hospital belonging to ATM to Turkiye for a period of 6 weeks as stated by the Minister of Defence, YB Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Mohamad Bin Haji Hasan at a press conference session at Camp Lok Kawi, Sabah on 9 February 2023 in conjunction with his Working Visit to the Command Headquarters of the Eastern Fleet, Teluk Sepanggar and the Headquarters of the 5th Division Infantry, yesterday.

The main purpose of operating Malaysia Field Hospital in Turkiye is to express the pure desire of the Malaysian Government to provide humanitarian assistance to victims affected by the natural disaster. The main focus of aid is to support the Government of Turkiye through medical assistance and health services to the people of the country who are currently in difficulty.

Accordingly, the CDF, General Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Hj. Affendi bin Buang TUDM witnessed the OP STARLIGHT (MALAYSIAN FIELD HOSPITAL MANAGEMENT OPERATION IN TURKIYE) Team Delivery Ceremony which involved the first delivery consisting of 36 officers and members along with 44 Ton Field Hospital equipment at Subang Air Base on 10 February 2023 at 0300 am.

A total of 106 ATM officers and members led by Brigadier General Dato’ (Dr) Amran bin Amir Hamzah as Operations Commander, were flown to Turkiye with 3 phases of delivery starting on 10 February 2023 using A400 aircraft and commercial aircraft.

The Field Hospital will be located in Adiyaman with the help of coordination from the Turkish Embassy in Malaysia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia and the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA).

This Level 3 Field Hospital also has a capacity of 60 beds and is also equipped with ward facilities, Operation Theater Room, Intensive Care Unit Room, Radiology and laboratory. It also offers 9 specialties namely Primary Medicine, Orthopedics, Surgery, Anesthesia, Maxillo-Facial, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Ophthalmology and Emergency Medicine. Through the facilities provided, this Field Hospital will be able to focus on treatment services for the victims involved while also having bed capacity for victims who need further treatment.

The entire operation of OP STARLIGHT is also placed under the Joint Force Commander, Lieutenant General Dato’ Noor Mohamad Akmar bin Mohd Dom TUDM as the operational leader and will be in close contact with other services, domestic and foreign agencies in carrying out missions in line with the roles and responsibilities in entrust

Also present at the OP STARLIGHT Team Delivery Ceremony were His Excellency (TYT) Emir Salim YÜKSEL, Turkish Ambassador to Malaysia; General Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Mohd Asghar Khan bin Goriman Khan RMAF, Chief of Air Force; Lieutenant General Datuk Seri Mohammad bin Ab Rahman, Deputy Chief of Army representing the Chief of Army; Vice Admiral Datuk Sabri bin Zali, Deputy Chief of Navy, representing the Chief of Navy; Lieutenant General Datuk Arman Rumaizi bin Hj Ahmad, Chief of Staff of ATM Headquarters, Lieutenant General Dato’ (Dr) Zulkeffeli bin Mat Jusoh, Director General of ATM Health Services and ATM Senior Officers.

SUBANG, 10 Feb 2023 – Berdasarkan situasi semasa bencana gempa bumi yang melanda Turkiye dan Syria, Angkatan Tentera Malaysia (ATM) melalui Perkhidmatan Kesihatan ATM akan mengaturgerakkan petugas dan kelengkapan Hospital Medan Malaysia Tahap Tiga (3) milik ATM ke Turkiye bagi tempoh pengoperasian 6 minggu sepertimana yang telah dinyatakan oleh Menteri Pertahanan, YB Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Mohamad Bin Haji Hasan pada sesi sidang media di di Kem Lok Kawi, Sabah pada 9 Februari 2023 sempena Lawatan Kerja beliau ke Markas Pemerintahan Armada Timur, Teluk Sepanggar dan Markas Divisyen Ke-5 Infantri Malaysia, semalam.

Tujuan utama pengoperasian Hospital Medan Malaysia (HMM) di Turkiye ini adalah bagi menzahirkan hasrat murni Kerajaan Malaysia dalam memberikan bantuan kemanusiaan kepada mangsa yang terjejas akibat bencana alam berkenaan. Fokus utama bantuan adalah bagi menyokong Kerajaan Turkiye melalui bantuan perubatan dan perkhidmatan kesihatan kepada rakyat negara tersebut yang berada dalam kesukaran ketika ini.

Sehubungan itu, Panglima Angkatan Tentera, Jeneral Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Hj. Affendi bin Buang TUDM telah menyempurnakan Majlis Penghantaran Tim OP STARLIGHT (OPERASI PENGENDALIAN HOSPITAL MEDAN MALAYSIA DI TURKIYE) yang melibatkan sesi penghantaran pertama terdiri dari 36 pegawai dan anggota beserta dengan peralatan Hospital Medan seberat 44 Tan di Pangkalan Udara Subang pada 10 Februari 2023 jam 0300 pagi.

Keseluruhan 106 pegawai dan anggota ATM diketuai oleh Brigedier Jeneral Dato’ (Dr) Amran bin Amir Hamzah sebagai Pemerintah Operasi, diterbangkan ke Turkiye dengan 3 fasa penghantaran bermula 10 Februari 2023 menggunakan pesawat A400 dan pesawat komersil.

Hospital Medan ini akan ditempatkan di Adiyaman dengan bantuan koordinasi dari Kedutaan Turkiye di Malaysia, Kementerian Luar Negeri Malaysia dan Agensi Pengurusan Bencana Negara (NADMA).

Hospital Medan Tahap 3 ini juga berkapasiti 60 buah katil yang turut dilengkapi dengan kemudahan wad, Bilik Pembedahan (Operation Theatre Room), Unit Rawatan Rapi (Intensive Care Unit Room), Radiologi dan makmal. Ianya juga menawarkan 9 kepakaran iaitu Perubatan Primer, Orthopedik, Pembedahan, Anesthesia, Maxilo-Facial, Obsterik & Ginekologi, Pediatrik, Opthalmologi dan Perubatan Kecemasan. Melalui kemudahan yang disediakan akan membolehkan Hospital Medan ini memberi tumpuan kepada perkhidmatan rawatan kepada mangsa yang terlibat di samping mempunyai kapasiti katil untuk mangsa yang memerlukan rawatan lanjut.

Keseluruhan pengoperasian OP STARLIGHT ini juga diletakkan di bawah Panglima Angkatan Bersama, Leftenan Jeneral Dato’ Noor Mohamad Akmar bin Mohd Dom TUDM sebagai peneraju operasi dan akan berhubung rapat dengan perkhidmatan lain, agensi dalam dan luar negara dalam melaksanakan misi sejajar dengan peranan serta tanggungjawab yang di amanahkan.

Turut hadir di Majlis Penghantaran Tim OP STARLIGHT ialah Tuan Yang Terutama (TYT) Emir Salim YÜKSEL, Duta Besar Turki di Malaysia; Jeneral Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Mohd Asghar Khan bin Goriman Khan TUDM, Panglima Tentera Udara; Leftenan Jeneral Datuk Seri Mohammad bin Ab Rahman, Timbalan Panglima Tentera Darat mewakili Panglima Tentera Darat; Laksamana Madya Datuk Sabri bin Zali, Timbalan Panglima Tentera Laut, mewakili Panglima Tentera Laut; Leftenan Jeneral Datuk Arman Rumaizi bin Hj Ahmad, Ketua Staf Markas ATM, Leftenan Jeneral Dato’ (Dr) Zulkeffeli bin Mat Jusoh, Ketua Pengarah Perkhidmatan Kesihatan ATM dan para Pegawai Kanan ATM.
