MUAR, 2 September – About 100,000 Armed Forces (MAF) veterans across the country who do not have pensions are urged to register with the MAF Veteran Affairs Department (JHEV).
Deputy Minister of Defence, Adly Zahari asked the veterans to register to enable them to receive various assistance.
He said, this includes Living Allowance (BSH) of RM300 per month which comes into effect this September.
“If we look, some of these MAF veteran members, when they are retired, they feel free from MAF. However, on the other hand, when they face health problems, they seek us for welfare. However, their information is not on our list.
This includes those who sometimes change phone numbers and so on. It’s hard for us to connect. What’s more if he’s in the interior,” said Adly to reporters after the Leader Talk Program with MAF Veterans and Wives at the MAF Veterans Association Muar branch.
In August, the Public Service Reform Cabinet Committee (JKK-PA) meeting chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced BSH of RM300 per month starting this September.
The assistance benefited a total of 41,970 non-pensionable veterans with an additional financial implication of RM151.1 million per year.
Previously, BSH RM300 per month was only enjoyed by veterans without cause at the age of 80.
Kita memang susah nak berhubung.
