{"id":6093,"date":"2022-08-11T06:45:58","date_gmt":"2022-08-10T22:45:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mymilitarytimes.com\/?p=6093"},"modified":"2022-08-11T06:47:49","modified_gmt":"2022-08-10T22:47:49","slug":"lcs-1-launched-in-2017-was-actual-vessel-not-a-dummy-says-former-navy-chief","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mymilitarytimes.com\/index.php\/2022\/08\/11\/lcs-1-launched-in-2017-was-actual-vessel-not-a-dummy-says-former-navy-chief\/","title":{"rendered":"LCS 1 launched in 2017 was actual vessel, not a dummy, says former Navy chief"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>PETALING JAYA: The littoral combat ship (LCS) launched in Lumut in 2017 was not a dummy but was the actual vessel under construction, says former Royal Malaysian Navy chief Admiral (Rtd) Tan Sri Ahmad Kamarulzaman Ahmad Badaruddin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was responding to allegations on social media that the launch of KD Maharajalela (referred to as LCS 1) was just for show and that the actual ship was not at the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He explained that it is a long-standing naval tradition to have a launch and naming ceremony for combat ships which are yet to be fully built.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<script async=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display:block; text-align:center;\" data-ad-layout=\"in-article\" data-ad-format=\"fluid\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-3314475734161595\" data-ad-slot=\"7610079946\"><\/ins>\n<script>\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script>\n\n\n\n<p>He said the tradition is also practised in other parts of the world, adding that the same was done for the LCS built by France&#8217;s Naval Group for the United Arab Emirates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Claims that the LCS launched in Lumut in 2017 was to dupe and confuse the people are false,&#8221; he said in a statement on Wednesday (Aug 10).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The ship launched in Lumut then was the actual LCS 1 that was under construction and not a dummy.
