RMN Attends the 15th International Defence Industry Fair 2021 (IDEF’21) in Istanbul, Turkey

ISTANBUL, 17 August – The Deputy Chief of Navy, Rear Admiral Dato’ Abdul Rahman bin Ayob together with First Admiral Azman bin Rabani and Lt Kdr Mohd Mustaqim bin Yahaya TLDM participated in the IDEF’21 defence exhibition at the Tuyap Fair and Congress Center. The 4th largest Defence Exhibition in the world lasted for 4 days in compliance with the COVID-19 pandemic SOP. The exhibition this time involved the participation of 1,238 companies and was attended by 169 delegates from 83 countries and was officiated by the President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on 17 August 21.

As a key NATO leader, Turkey’s contribution to regional and world peace and prosperity is increasing with the strengthening of the country’s defence industry. A variety of new military products developed by Turkey were presented during the IDEF ’21 exhibition which illustrated the rapid development of Turkey’s defence industry on par with other developed countries.

The RMN delegation also had the opportunity to visit, review and pay special attention to new innovations in military technology as well as review the potential equipment for the RMN’s planned procurement.

A visit to the TCG KINALIADA ship was also held on 20 August 21. TCG KINALIADA is an ADA Anti-submarine Warfare (ASW) Corvette Class built by Istanbul Naval Shipyard through the MILGEM project in 2019.

The delegation had the opportunity to review the ship’s capabilities and specifications. 75% of the ship’s systems and equipment are made in Turkey, among them are ADVENT CMS, Anti-Guided Missile System, ATMACA SSM, 12.7mm STAMP Cannon, YAKAMOS 2000 Sonar, UniMACS 3000 IPMS and ESM system ARES-2N.

ISTANBUL, 17 Ogos – Timbalan Panglima Tentera Laut, Laksamana Madya Dato’ Abdul Rahman bin Ayob bersama Laksamana Pertama Azman bin Rabani dan Lt Kdr Mohd Mustaqim bin Yahaya TLDM telah menyertai pameran pertahanan IDEF’21 bertempat di Tuyap Fair and Congress Center. Pameran Pertahanan ke-4 terbesar di dunia ini berlangsung selama 4 hari dengan pematuhan kepada SOP pandemik COVID-19. Pameran kali ini telah melibatkan penyertaan 1,238 syarikat dan disertai oleh 169 delegasi daripada 83 buah negara dan telah dirasmikan oleh Presiden Republik Turki, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan pada 17 Ogos 21.

Selaku peneraju utama NATO, sumbangan Turki terhadap keamanan dan kesejahteraan serantau serta dunia semakin meningkat dengan pemerkasaan industri pertahanan negara tersebut. Pelbagai produk ketenteraan baharu yang dibangunkan oleh Turki dipersembahkan semasa pameran IDEF’ 21 ini yang menggambarkan perkembangan pesat industri pertahanan Turki yang setaraf negara maju lain.

Delegasi TLDM juga berpeluang melawat, meninjau dan memberi perhatian khusus kepada inovasi-inovasi baru dalam teknologi ketenteraan serta meninjau peralatan-peralatan yang berpotensi kepada perolehan yang sedang dirancang TLDM.

Lawatan ke kapal TCG KINALIADA juga sempat dilaksanakan pada 20 Ogos 21. TCG KINALIADA merupakan Kelas Korvet ADA Anti-submarine Warfare (ASW) yang dibina oleh Istanbul Naval Shipyard melalui projek MILGEM pada tahun 2019. Delegasi telah berpeluang meninjau keupayaan serta spesifikasi kapal di mana hampir 75% sistem dan peralatan kapal adalah buatan Turki antaranya ialah ADVENT CMS, Anti-Guided Missile System, ATMACA SSM, Meriam 12.7mm STAMP, YAKAMOS 2000 Sonar, UniMACS 3000 IPMS dan ESM system ARES-2N.
