KUALA LUMPUR: Senior Defence Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob explained that the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) will mobilise a total of 4,983 officers and personnel through OP MURNI in the six flood-affected states.
“A total of 1,015 MAF assets are deployed to help the flood-affected states in Johor, Pahang, Terengganu, Selangor, Kelantan and Perak.
“Until yesterday, the flood situation has affected six states involving the evacuation of 22,699 victims at 282 evacuation centers,” he explained during the MAF OP MURNI deployment press conference at Wisma Pertahanan on 5 Jan 2021.
He added that among the other assets involved were 226 1-ton trucks, 538 3-ton trucks, seven 5-ton trucks, 29 7-ton trucks, 188 combat boats, two CB 90 boats, three Rigid Hull Inflatable boats (RHIB), four rubber boats, 10 Bailey Bridge, two transport aircraft and six helicopters.
According to him in Pahang, the MAF has arranged the movement of troops and assets in the 10 affected districts, namely Kuantan, Maran, Pekan, Rompin, Jerantut, Lipis, Raub, Bentong, Bera and Temerloh.
“The troops involved were from the 12th Royal Malay Regiment (Mechanised) Battalion (12 RMR Mech), in the area of responsibility of Kuantan and Maran.
“The 1st Regiment of the Royal Armor Corps (1 RAC) was deployed in Pekan and Rompin while the 7th Battalion of the Royal Ranger Regiment (Mechanised) (7 RRR Mech) in Jerantut involved a total strength of 18 officers and 315 personnel.
“This deployment also includes the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) with the strength of one officer and seven other ranks who helped to evacuate flood victims in the Seberang Balok area, Kuantan,” he said.
Apart from that, he also said that the Bailey Compact 200 Bridge will be installed in Ulu Dong Town, Raub to connect the locals to the main Ulu Dong road which was cut off.
Meanwhile, in the State of Johor, a total of six officers and 231 other ranks from 10 RMR and the 33rd Royal Artillery Regiment (33 RAR) were deployed to Pontian, Batu Pahat and Kota Tinggi districts.
At the same time, additional personnel and MAF assets have also been placed in advance in each identified district and state that could be affected.
This includes placing Liaison Officers in each state and district to monitor the implementation of OP MURNI.
Also present were Deputy Minister of Defence, Dato’ Sri Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz, Secretary General of the Ministry of Defence, Dato’ Sri Muez Abd Aziz, Chief of Defence Forces, Gen Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Hj Affendi Buang RMAF, Chief of Army, Gen Tan Sri Datuk Zamrose Mohd Zain, Chief of Navy, Admiral Tan Sri Mohd Reza Mohd Sany and Chief of Air Force, Gen Tan Sri Ackbal Hj Abdul Samad RMAF.

KUALA LUMPUR: Menteri Kanan Pertahanan, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob menjelaskan, Angkatan Tentera Malaysia (ATM) akan menggerakkan seramai 4,983 pegawai dan anggotanya menerusi OP MURNI di enam negeri yang terjejas banjir.
“Sebanyak 1,015 aset-aset ATM di atur gerak bagi membantu negeri yang terjejas banjir iaitu di Johor, Pahang, Terengganu, Selangor, Kelantan dan Perak.
“Sehingga semalam, situasi banjir telah menjejaskan enam buah negeri melibatkan pemindahan seramai 22,699 mangsa di 282 pusat pemindahan,” jelas beliau semasa sidang media Atur Gerak ATM dalam OP MURNI di Wisma Pertahanan pada 5 Jan 2021.
Tambahnya lagi, antara aset lain yang terlibat adalah 226 buah trak 1 tan, 538 buah trak 3 tan, tujuh buah trak 5 tan, 29 buah trak 7 tan, 188 buah bot tempur, dua buah bot CB 90, tiga buah bot Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat (RHIB), empat buah bot getah, 10 buah Bailey Bridge, dua buah pesawat pengangkut dan enam buah helikopter.
Menurutnya di Pahang, ATM telah mengatur gerak trup dan aset di 10 daerah yang terjejas iaitu Kuantan, Maran, Pekan, Rompin, Jerantut, Lipis, Raub, Bentong, Bera dan Temerloh.
“Trup yang terlibat adalah Batalion Kedua Belas Rejimen Askar Melayu Diraja (Mekanize) (12 RAMD Mek) di kawasan tanggungjawab Kuantan dan Maran.
“Pasukan Rejimen Pertama Kor Armor Diraja (1 KAD) diaturgerakkan di Pekan dan Rompin manakala Batalion Ketujuh Rejimen Renjer Diraja (Mekanize) (7 RRD Mek) pula di Jerantut melibatkan keseluruhan kekuatan seramai 18 pegawai dan 315 anggota Lain-Lain Pangkat (LLP).
“Aturgerak ini termasuk Tentera Laut Diraja Malaysia (TLDM) dengan kekuatan seorang pegawai dan tujuh anggota LLP yang turut membantu memindahkan mangsa banjir di kawasan Seberang Balok, Kuantan,” katanya.
Selain itu, beliau juga mengatakan Jambatan Bailey Compact 200 akan dipasang di Pekan Ulu Dong, Raub bagi menghubungkan penduduk setempat ke jalan utama Ulu Dong yang terputus.
Sementara itu, di Negeri Johor, seramai enam pegawai dan 231 anggota LLP dari 10 RAMD dan Rejimen Ke-33 Artileri Diraja (33 RAD) telah diaturgerak melibatkan daerah Pontian, Batu Pahat dan Kota Tinggi.
Pada masa yang sama, lebihan anggota dan aset ATM yang dirancang juga telah diletakkan lebih awal di setiap daerah dan negeri yang dikenal pasti akan terjejas.
Ini termasuk menempatkan Pegawai Perhubungan di setiap negeri dan daerah bagi memantau pelaksanaan OP MURNI.
Turut hadir, Timbalan Menteri Pertahanan, Dato’ Sri Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz, Ketua Setiausaha Kementerian Pertahanan, Dato’ Sri Muez Abd Aziz, Panglima Angkatan Tentera, Jen Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Hj Affendi Buang TUDM, Panglima Tentera Darat, Jen Tan Sri Datuk Zamrose Mohd Zain, Panglima Tentera Laut, Laksamana Tan Sri Mohd Reza Mohd Sany dan Panglima Tentera Udara, Jen Tan Sri Ackbal Hj Abdul Samad TUDM.
