Local Cryptographic ‘ADAM’ reduces MAF’s Dependence on Foreign Technology

KUALA LUMPUR, 20 Dec — The Armed Forces Dedicated Algorithm (ADAM) local cryptographic product (algorithm specific to security forces) successfully produced by a local company can reduce the dependence of the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) on technologies from abroad.

Air Force Chief Gen Tan Sri Mohd Asghar Khan Goriman Khan said in addition, the production of the product can also raise the credibility of local companies in further empowering the national defense industry in line with the National Defence White Paper and Cryptography Policy.

“Well done to the Defence Cyber and Electromagnetics Division and strategic partners who are involved with the first cryptographic product of its kind in Malaysia.

“Hopefully it can continue to grow and be widely adopted by the country’s cyber agencies,” he said when officiating the 2022 Cyber Alert Program at Wisma Perwira ATM here today.

Mohd Asghar Khan said the product, which had been tested, had successfully obtained Malaysian Cryptography Certification from Cyber Security Malaysia on 30 Sept.

He said the security of the nation’s cyber ecosystem is a shared responsibility and all cyber-related agencies need to unite through a comprehensive government and comprehensive approach to society (WoGoS) in ensuring the sustainability of cyber ecosystem security.

“Through this WoGoS approach, it is able to avoid the threat of war or a hybrid attack against the core values of national security as enshrined in the National Security Policy 2021-2025.

“Remember that this cyber threat is always evolving and failure to ensure a high level of awareness can inhibit all efforts being implemented,” he said.

Regarding the Cyber Alert Program 2022, Mohd Asghar Khan said it aims to give awareness to all parties about the importance of preserving the security of the nation’s cyber ecosystem.
