Malaysian Defence Minister Visits Indonesia to Enhance Defence Cooperation

INDONESIA, 21 February 2023 – The Minister of Defence of Malaysia, YB Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Mohamad bin Haji Hasan has paid a one-day official visit to the Republic of Indonesia on 21 February 2023.

This official visit began with the Minister of Defence Official Visit on his counterpart, His Excellency Prabowo Subianto, Minister of Defence of the Republic of Indonesia.

During the Official Visit session, Ministers from both countries held discussions on efforts to enhance cooperation between the two countries through the Bilateral Defence Relations and Multilateral Defence Relations platform.

Both Ministers also affirmed their commitment to jointly strengthen defence cooperation between the two countries in a constructive and progressive manner. This cooperation also involves the field of defence science and technology, defense industry, strategic defense dialogue and military issues and information sharing.

At the same time, YB Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Mohamad also extended an invitation to Prabowo Subianto to visit the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2023 (LIMA ’23) which will take place from 23-27 May 2023.

Malaysia and Indonesia share a close bilateral relationship and YB Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Mohamad’s visit to the Republic of Indonesia is an important step to further strengthen the existing diplomatic and friendship ties between the two countries.

The Minister of Defence was also accompanied by the Chief of Defence Force, General Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Hj Affendi Buang RMAF; The Management of the Ministry of Defence and representatives of the Malaysian Armed Forces.

Defence diplomacy especially with regional countries is to support the Pillar of Competent Partnership in the national defence strategy as outlined in the Defence White Paper. It is to strengthen and expand defence cooperation to maintain Malaysia as a country that is beneficial for regional development and stability.

LAWATAN RASMI MENTERI PERTAHANAN KE REPUBLIK INDONESIA UNTUK PERTINGKAT KERJASAMA PERTAHANAN

INDONESIA, 21 Februari 2023 – Menteri Pertahanan Malaysia, YB Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Mohamad bin Haji Hasan telah mengadakan lawatan rasmi selama sehari ke Republik Indonesia pada 21 Februari 2023.

Lawatan rasmi ini dimulai dengan sesi Kunjungan Hormat Menteri Pertahanan ke atas rakan sejawatannya, Tuan Yang Terutama (TYT) Prabowo Subianto, Menteri Pertahanan Republik Indonesia.

Semasa sesi Kunjungan Hormat diadakan, Menteri daripada kedua-dua negara mengadakan perbincangan mengenai usaha untuk mempertingkatkan kerjasama antara kedua-dua negara melalui platform Hubungan Pertahanan Dua Hala dan Hubungan Pertahanan Pelbagai Hala.

Kedua-dua Menteri juga menegaskan komitmen untuk bersama mengukuhkan kerjasama pertahanan antara kedua-dua negara secara konstruktif dan progresif. Kerjasama ini juga turut melibatkan bidang sains dan teknologi pertahanan, industri pertahanan, dialog pertahanan strategik dan isu ketenteraan serta perkongsian maklumat.

Pada masa yang sama, YB Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Mohamad turut menyampaikan jemputan kepada TYT Prabowo Subianto untuk mengunjungi Pameran Maritim dan Aeroangkasa Antarabangsa Langkawi 2023 (LIMA ‘23) yang akan berlangsung dari 23-27 Mei 2023 kelak.

Malaysia dan Indonesia berkongsi hubungan dua hala yang erat dan lawatan YB Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Mohamad ke Republik Indonesia merupakan langkah penting untuk mengukuhkan lagi ikatan diplomasi dan persahabatan sedia ada antara kedua-dua negara.

Menteri Pertahanan turut diiringi oleh Panglima Angkatan Tentera, Jeneral Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Hj Affendi Buang TUDM; Pihak Pengurusan Kementerian Pertahanan dan wakil Angkatan Tentera Malaysia.

Diplomasi pertahanan terutamanya dengan negara serantau adalah bagi menyokong Tonggak Perkongsian Berwibawa dalam strategi pertahanan negara seperti yang digariskan dalam Kertas Putih Pertahanan. Ianya bagi memperkukuh dan memperluas kerjasama pertahanan bagi mengekalkan Malaysia sebagai sebuah negara yang bermanfaat untuk pembangunan dan kestabilan serantau.
