New Army Eastern Field Commander Appointed

Kota Samarahan: Former Army Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Datuk Mohd Sofi Md Lepi, is now leading the Army’s Eastern Field Command (PMTTD).

Mohd Sofi, 53, was appointed as the sixth PMTTD Commander replacing Lieutenant General Datuk Mardzuki Muhammad.

The handover ceremony for senior officers of the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) was witnessed by the Chief of Army, General Tan Sri Mohamad Ab Rahman at Muara Tuang Camp, here, today.

A total of 27 officers and 432 members of other ranks participated in the PMTTD Commander’s handover parade which was held with full military customs.

Also present were the Commander of the First Division of the Malaysian Infantry, Major General Hassan Embong and the Commander of the Fifth Division of the Malaysian Infantry, Major General Datuk Abdul Rahman A Wahab.

Mohd Sofi was born in Ulu Yam, Selangor on 14 April 1970 and joined the Malaysian Army (TDM) on 19 August 1988.

He was commissioned in the Royal Malay Regiment (RAMD) on 1 July 1990 after completing cadet officer training at the Royal Military College, Duntroon, Australia.

On June 27, 2022, he was promoted to the rank of Major General and appointed as Chief of Staff at Army Headquarters.

Mardzuki moved to Kuala Lumpur and was appointed as the Vice Chancellor of the National Defense University of Malaysia (UPNM).

He has led PMTTD since 20 November 2020 replacing Lieutenant General Datuk Mohd Zakaria Yadi.

PMTTD established on 1 April 2014 is one of the main command organization of the Malaysian Army (TDM) responsible for the security of Sabah and Sarawak.

Kota Samarahan: Bekas Ketua Staf Tentera Darat, Leftenan Jeneral Datuk Mohd Sofi Md Lepi, kini menerajui Pemerintahan Medan Timur Tentera Darat (PMTTD).

Mohd Sofi, 53, dilantik sebagai Panglima PMTTD keenam menggantikan Leftenan Jeneral Datuk Mardzuki Muhammad.

Majlis serah terima tugas pegawai kanan Angkatan Tentera Malaysia (ATM) itu disaksikan oleh Panglima Tentera Darat, Jeneral Tan Sri Mohamad Ab Rahman di Kem Muara Tuang, di sini, hari ini.

Seramai 27 pegawai dan 432 anggota lain-lain pangkat menyertai perbarisan serah terima jawatan Panglima PMTTD yang diadakan dengan penuh adat istiadat ketenteraan.

Turut hadir Panglima Divisyen Pertama Infantri Malaysia, Mejar Jeneral Hassan Embong dan Panglima Divisyen Kelima Infantri Malaysia, Mejar Jeneral Datuk Abdul Rahman A Wahab.

Mohd Sofi dilahirkan di Ulu Yam, Selangor pada 14 April 1970 dan menyertai Tentera Darat Malaysia (TDM) pada 19 Ogos 1988.

Beliau ditauliahkan di dalam Rejimen Askar Melayu Diraja (RAMD) pada 1 Julai 1990 sebaik menamatkan latihan pegawai kadet di Royal Military College, Duntroon, Australia.

Pada 27 Jun 2022, beliau dinaikkan ke pangkat Mejar Jeneral dan dilantik sebagai Ketua Staf Tentera Darat di Markas Tentera Darat.

Mardzuki pula bertukar ke Kuala Lumpur dilantik sebagai Naib Canselor, Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM).

Beliau menerajui PMTTD sejak 20 November 2020 menggantikan Leftenan Jeneral Datuk Mohd Zakaria Yadi.

PMTTD yang ditubuhkan pada 1 April 2014 adalah satu daripada organisasi pemerintahan utama Tentera Darat Malaysja (TDM) yang bertanggungjawab terhadap keselamatan wilayah Sabah dan Sarawak.
