Palestinians Cause Disturbance at WTKL Over Accommodation Restrictions

KUALA LUMPUR — Several Palestinians caused a disturbance and became unruly at Wisma Transit Kuala Lumpur (WTKL) yesterday evening.

In a statement, the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) said the incident occurred around 6:15 PM on Wednesday when a group of Palestinians staying at WTKL became upset.

“It is believed that some of the Palestinians were unhappy because the team did not allow one of their members to stay outside the facility,” the statement read.

The individual and his family, along with friends, reportedly caused a commotion in front of the WTKL guard post.

However, the on-duty officer, having noticed the situation, acted to calm things down.

“The officer also asked the Palestinians involved to leave the area,” the statement continued.

The group later entered WTKL’s main lobby and caused further disruption by breaking flower pots and damaging the decorations in the lobby.

The on-duty officer continued efforts to de-escalate the situation, but one of the Palestinians threw a slipper at the officer.

“The Palestinian Embassy’s representative also attended and tried to disperse the group but was unsuccessful,” the statement added. The ATM stated that it would continue to monitor the movements of the Palestinians and work to prevent any confrontations.
