Singapore, January 21, 2025 – The Chief of Defence Force of the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF), General Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Mohammad bin Ab Rahman, made a significant farewell visit to Singapore’s Ministry of Defence (MINDEF), marking a milestone in regional defence cooperation.

During the visit, General Mohammad held discussions with Singapore’s Minister for Defence, Dr. Ng Eng Hen, who acknowledged his pivotal role in enhancing bilateral defence relations and fostering collaboration between the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) and the MAF.

The farewell event included a Guard of Honour ceremony at MINDEF, followed by a meeting with Singapore’s Chief of Defence Force, Vice Admiral Aaron Beng.

This visit underscored the longstanding and robust defence partnership between Singapore and Malaysia. Both armed forces actively collaborate through:

  • Joint exercises: Regular bilateral and multilateral military drills.
  • Professional exchanges: Knowledge-sharing initiatives.
  • Defence platforms: Cooperation under the Five Power Defence Arrangements (FPDA), the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM), and ADMM-Plus.

Such engagements have not only deepened mutual understanding but also strengthened professional bonds among personnel, solidifying the foundations of regional security.

This high-profile visit is a testament to the shared commitment of Malaysia and Singapore in maintaining peace, stability, and cooperation in Southeast Asia.
