Lieutenant General Datuk Mohd Nizam Jaffar Set to Lead Malaysian Armed Forces?

KUALA LUMPUR, January 28 – A historic change is coming to the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) as Lieutenant General Datuk Mohd Nizam Jaffar is set to be appointed as the new Chief of Defence Force (CDF).

Internal sources confirmed that the Assistant Chief of Staff for Personnel Services, Lieutenant General Datuk Mohd Nizam Jaffar, will be taking on the prestigious role.

“The selection of the new MAF leadership was decided during a high-level meeting at the Ministry of Defence Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, in early January,” the source revealed.

In a significant departure from tradition, this marks the first time the position of CDF will not be filled by one of the current service chiefs of the Malaysian Army, Royal Malaysian Navy, or Royal Malaysian Air Force.

The official Handover Ceremony for the Chief of Defence Forces is expected to take place on Friday afternoon, immediately following the Appreciation Parade for the outgoing 22nd Chief of Defence Forces, General Tan Sri Mohammad Ab Rahman, in the morning.

Lieutenant General Nizam brings extensive experience to the role. He previously served as the Commander of the Malaysian Battalion 2 (MALBATT 2) in Lebanon and has held various key positions throughout his career.

These include Director of Infantry, Commander of the 2nd Brigade of the Malaysian Army, and Aide-de-camp to the 14th Yang di-Pertuan Agong, the late Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah.

Stay tuned as Malaysia prepares to witness this historic leadership transition in the nation’s defence forces.
