King Urges Malaysian Armed Forces to Halt Online Sharing of Sensitive Information, Emphasises Readiness for Modern Defence Challenges MY ATM 28th June 202529th June 2025 KUALA LUMPUR, 28 June 2025 — His Majesty Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim has issued a firm reminder to the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) to cease the practice of sharing sensitive military information on social media platforms. The call was made during His Majesty’s keynote address at the Royal Military College graduation ceremony in Sungai Besi. Highlighting the dangers of digital exposure in an era of cyber vulnerabilities, the King stressed that military personnel must exercise greater caution when posting or forwarding information related to operations, strategy, and national security. The monarch’s message came amid growing global concerns over cyber warfare and the strategic misuse of digital platforms to extract classified intelligence. His Majesty expressed concern over previous incidents where operational details were leaked online, potentially jeopardising missions and personnel safety. In a separate but related address on defence preparedness, His Majesty also emphasised that the MAF must be equipped to adapt to the latest technologies in warfare. Speaking about the evolution of global military threats, the King urged the Malaysian Armed Forces to adopt advanced systems, invest in defence modernisation, and ensure that strategic readiness matches regional and global standards. “We are no longer facing conventional threats alone. Our defence forces must evolve with time, embracing cutting-edge capabilities such as cyber defence, unmanned systems, and space technology,” His Majesty said. This dual-pronged message — safeguarding operational secrecy while embracing defence modernisation — reflects the Agong’s consistent vision of building a disciplined, technologically advanced, and security-conscious military. His Majesty concluded by reminding the graduating cadets that loyalty, discipline, and integrity remain the core of military service. “You are the future guardians of Malaysia’s sovereignty. Serve with pride, protect with honour,” the King said. The Royal Military College ceremony was attended by top officials from the Ministry of Defence, the Armed Forces Council, senior officers, and proud families of the graduating cadets.
