Lumut, August 14 – The RMN-USN 2019 Maritime Training Activity (MTA) Opening Ceremony was officiated by Western Fleet Commander Admiral Dato’ Aris Adi Tan bin Abdullah and witnessed by Pacific Maritime Superintendent Admiral Linda L.Fagan at Lumut Naval Base today.
The RMN-USN MTA 2019 runs from 13 to 18 August 19. The six-day exercise will be held at the RMN Lumut Naval Base and around the Straits of Malacca. This exercise covers a variety of events including opening events, friendship sports, Subject Matter Expert Exchange (SMEE) and Field Training Exercise (FTX).
The commander of the West Fleet in his speech emphasized the importance of such a program to continue. Interestingly, it also involved the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) and the United States Coast Guard (USCG). According to him, the RMN-USN MTA is seen as an initiative for bilateral military relations and maritime enforcement agencies to further strengthen cooperation and foster integration in enhancing regional stability and maritime security.
This exercise will involve almost 300 participants and some RMN assets such as KD LEKIU, KD GAGAH SAMUDERA while MMEA will be represented by KM MARLIN. The USN and USCG assets that will be involved will be USS MONTGOMERY, USNS SALVOR and USCGS STRATTON.
The event concludes with a tour of USS MONTGOMERY, USCGS STRATTON and surrounding Base units participating in the 2019 RMN-USN MTA.
Lumut, 14 Ogos – Majlis Pembukaan ‘Maritime Training Activity’ (MTA) RMN-USN 2019 telah disempurnakan oleh Panglima Armada Barat, Laksamana Madya Dato’ Aris Adi Tan bin Abdullah serta disaksikan oleh Panglima Penguasa Maritim Pasifik, Laksamana Madya Linda L.Fagan di Tambatan Pangkalan Lumut hari ini.
MTA TLDM-TLAS 2019 ini telah bermula pada 13 sehingga 18 Ogos 19. Eksesais selama enam hari ini akan dilaksanakan di Pangkalan TLDM Lumut dan di sekitar Selat Melaka. Eksesais kali ini merangkumi pelbagai acara termasuklah acara pembukaan, sukan persahabatan, Pertukaran Pakar Subjek atau Subject Matter Expert Exchange (SMEE) dan Field Training Exercise (FTX).
Panglima Armada Barat dalam ucapan beliau menekankan kepentingan program seumpama ini untuk terus dilaksanakan. Menarik kali ini, ia turut melibatkan Agensi Penguatkuasaan Maritim Malaysia (APMM) dan United States Coast Guard (USCG). Menurut beliau, MTA TLDM-TLAS ini dilihat sebagai satu inisiatif bagi hubungan ketenteraan dua hala serta agensi penguatkuasaan maritim untuk terus memperkukuh kerjasama and menjalin integrasi dalam mempertingkat kestabilan serantau dan keselamatan maritim.
Eksesais kali ini melibatkan seramai hampir 300 hadirin dan beberapa aset TLDM seperti KD LEKIU, KD GAGAH SAMUDERA manakala Maritim Malaysia akan diwakili KM MARLIN. Aset TLAS dan USCGS yang akan terlibat pula adalah USS MONTGOMERY, USNS SALVOR dan USCGS STRATTON.
Majlis diakhiri dengan sesi lawatan ke kapal USS MONTGOMERY, USCGS STRATTON dan di sekitar unit Pangkalan yang mengambil bahagian dalam MTA TLAS-TLDM 2019.
