Cases of COVID-19 in the MAF is Not True: MAF CDF

KUALA LUMPUR, 5 March – The Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) has denied allegations of a COVID-19 cases at the Subang Air Base and the Ministry of Defense (Mindef).

The matter was confirmed by MAF Chief of Defence Force (CDF) Gen Tan Sri Affendi Buang when contacted by Bernama today.

“That is not true. The RMAF Air Operations Commander was on a visit to a private hospital in Subang where COVID-19 patients were admitted there.

“He was, however, examined and quarantined as a precautionary measure and he was confirmed free of COVID-19 infection. This has been misinterpreted,” he said.

Meanwhile, Affendi also denied the existence of a body temperature scanner in the Mindef building.

“I was in Mindef myself. I don’t know about it (body temperature scanners). So it’s not accurate,” he said.

Earlier, there were rumours on WhatsApp alleging that there is a COVID-19 outbreak among the security forces who were taking precautionary measures at Subang Air Base as well as the existence of a body temperature scanner at Level 18 of the Mindef building.
