KUALA LUMPUR, 2 March 21 – The 99th Cyber Warfare Regiment (99 RSPS) is a manifestation of the seriousness of the Malaysian Army in its efforts to strengthen its capacity and readiness to face the challenges and threats of cyberspace.
The inauguration ceremony of the regiment was officiated by the Army Chief of Staff, General Tan Sri Datuk Zamrose bin Mohd Zain, in conjunction with the 88th Army Day at the Sungai Besi Perdana Camp.
The dimension of Cyber Warfare today is an era of digital transformation that is changing the war landscape and the adaptation of kinetic and non-kinetic capabilities is an important step in the modernisation of a country’s defense system.
Taking into account the acquisition of state-of-the-art assets and systems, the Malaysian Army will continue to strive to strengthen, maintain and integrate the Command, Control, Communication, Computer, Intelligence, Reconnaissance and Targeting (C4ISRT) Systems.
The main mission of the establishment of the regiment was to control the cyber domain to achieve the objectives of the Army Information Warfare which included operations in two regions, whether in times of peace, conflict or war.
This inauguration is an initiative that supports the Second Pillar of the 28th Army Commander’s Supreme Order, which is Organizational Integrity.
Also present at the launch were the Deputy Chief of Army, Lieutenant General Dato’ Mohammad bin Ab Rahman, Commander of the Army Western Field Command, Lieutenant General Datuk Muhammad Hafizuddeain bin Jantan as well as the minimum involvement of Army personnel.
