KUALA LUMPUR: Lembaga Tabung Angkatan Tentera (LTAT) has appointed General (Rtd) Tan Sri Raja Mohamed Affandi Raja Mohamed Noor as its new chairman effective from August 3.

Raja Affandi will succeed Tan Sri Mohd Zahidi Zainuddin, who is retiring after completing his service as LTAT chairman since August 2018.

LTAT chief executive Datuk Ahmad Nazim Rahman said the armed forces pension fund would benefit from Raja Affandi’s experience.

“With his long years of military service, Raja Affandi will offer his wisdom and provide his guidance to the Board and the management in our effort to transform LTAT into a sustainable and competitive retirement fund,” he said in a statement today.

On the outgoing chairman, Ahmad Nazim said Zahidi had played a key role in providing insights and direction for the implementation of good corporate governance practices.

He said Zahidi had been instrumental in formulating the LTAT Transformation Plan.

“We greatly appreciate Zahidi for his leadership of the board and for guiding the senior management in its many initiatives.

“On behalf of the LTAT workforce, we express our gratitude and thanks for his services and wisdom during the years he served as our chairman,” he added.

Meanwhile, Raja Affandi was appointed as the 19th chief of defence forces on December 16, 2016.

He retired in 2018 after serving the Malaysian armed forces for 42 years.

Prior to being the chief of defence forces, Raja Affandi served as the 25th chief of army in 2013.

He has vast experience in military leadership and diplomacy during his tenure as the chief of staff of the Malaysian armed forces headquarters and the army field commander.

Raja Affandi holds a Master in Defence Studies (Australia) and Master of Science in Defence and Strategic Studies (Pakistan).
