The 88th Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) Day celebration this year with the theme ‘National Sovereignty, Shared Responsibility’ was attended by the Chief of Defence Forces, General Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Hj Affendi bin Buang RMAF.

This year and for the first time the celebration was held at Segenting Camp, Port Dickson Negeri Sembilan, physically in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOP) which are controlled without the presence of spectators from the local or outside community. This is as a control to ensure that the event can be held smoothly and control any probability of COVID-19 outbreak.

The total involvement of MAF officers and members in making the MAF Day celebration a success this year is 2,500 people. The celebration this time was also quite different from the previous year where this year it was screened with MAF Competency and Asset Readiness Training, followed by the Combat Static Parade and the Presentation of the Message from the CDF which was also broadcast live by Radio Television Malaysia (RTM).

The conduct of the Readiness Training demonstrates the assets and competencies of the Malaysian Army (TDM), the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) and the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF), indirectly showcasing the credibility of the MAF in carrying out key tasks to ensure the security and sovereignty of the country is always preserved. At the same time, the capability is highlighted as a reassurance to the people that the MAF’s vigilance on the main task is not affected although now the focus is on the implementation of the secondary task of helping the country deal with the spread of COVID-19.

Among the assets involved in the Readiness Training segment were PT-91M PENDEKAR Tank, GEMPITA 8×8 Armored Vehicle, ADNAN Armored Vehicle, LIPAN BARA 4×4 Armored Vehicle, 105mm LG 1 MK III Cannon, LOH A109 Agusta Helicopter, SUPACAT, VAMTAC Weapon Transport Vehicle , Scrambler, 72 Combat Boat and Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB) from TDM; KD MAHAWANGSA and KD JEBAT from RMN and C130H Transport Aircraft, SU 30 MKM SUKHOI Combat Aircraft and EC 725 Helicopter from RMAF apart from the involvement of officers and members from 10 Para Brigade, 4 Brigade (Mech), 881 Army Air Force Regiment (PUTD ), Gerup Gerak Khas (GGK), Pasukan Khas Laut (PASKAL) and Pasukan Khas Udara (PASKAU).

For the Static Combat Parade, it was led by Colonel Mohd Rosli bin Abu Bakar involving eight (8) detachments consisting of TDM, RMN, RMAF, MALBATT, GGK, PASKAL, PASKAU and Quick Reaction Force.

The parade this morning also saw flypast by four (4) MAF helicopters carrying the TDM, RMN and RMAF flags led by Lieutenant Colonel Azhar Bin Abdul Rahman TUDM. The parade was also accompanied by the MAF Joint Band under the leadership of Major Zaiful Azman Bin Zainol Abidin.

Also held was the presentation of the CDF Readiness Award which is the highest award in the MAF. This award is given to the best Formation or Brigade for the Army, the best Team for the RMN and the best Air Base for the RMAF. The recipient of the CDF Readiness Award received a trophy and cash of RM 5,000. Details of the recipients of the CDF Readiness Award are as follows:

a. Brigadier General Khairul Azmizal bin Ahmad Natal – Commander 10 Bde (Para).

b. Commander Asri bin Dasman RMN – Commanding Officer of KD LEKIR.

c. Brig Gen Zulkiffli Bin Hj Musa RMAF – Kuantan Air Base Commander.

This year is the second year that the MAF is facing challenges in carrying out its secondary duties to help the country curb the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, this situation is not an obstacle for the MAF to continue to ensure the well-being and safety of the people is always a priority. The MAF as the main bastion of national defence will continue to be committed to supporting the mission and vision of the country to ensure peace and sovereignty of the country is always preserved.

Sambutan Hari Angkatan Tentera Malaysia (ATM) ke-88 pada tahun ini dengan tema ‘Kedaulatan Negara Tanggungjawab Bersama’ telah disempurnakan oleh Panglima Angkatan Tentera, Jeneral Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Hj Affendi bin Buang TUDM.

Pada tahun ini dan buat julung kalinya sambutan telah diadakan di Kem Segenting, Port Dickson Negeri Sembilan, secara fizikal mengikut pematuhan prosedur operasi standard (SOP) yang terkawal tanpa kehadiran penonton dari kalangan masyarakat setempat atau luar. Ini adalah sebagai kawalan bagi memastikan acara dapat diadakan dengan lancar dan mengawal sebarang kebarangkalian penularan wabak COVID-19.

Keseluruhan penglibatan pegawai dan anggota ATM dalam menjayakan sambutan Hari ATM pada tahun ini adalah seramai 2,500 orang. Sambutan kali ini juga agak berbeza berbanding tahun sebelumnya di mana pada tahun ini telah dipertontonkan dengan Latihan Kesiagaan Aset dan Kompetensi ATM sebelum disusuli dengan Perbarisan Statik Tempur serta Penyampaian Perutusan Panglima Angkatan Tentera yang turut disiarkan secara lintas langsung oleh Stesen Penyiaran Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM).

Pelaksanaan Latihan Kesiagaan yang memperlihatkan keupayaan aset serta kompetensi ATM melibatkan ketiga-tiga cabang perkhidmatan iaitu Tentera Darat Malaysia (TDM), Tentera Laut Diraja Malaysia (TLDM) dan Tentera Udara Diraja Malaysia (TUDM), secara tidak langsung mempamerkan kredebiliti ATM dalam menggalas tugas utama bagi memastikan keselamatan dan kedaulatan negara sentiasa terpelihara. Pada masa yang sama, keupayaan yang ditonjolkan adalah sebagai keyakinan kepada rakyat bahawa kesiagaan ATM pada tugas utama tidak terjejas walaupun kini tumpuan diberikan kepada pelaksanaan tugas sekunder iaitu membantu Negara menangani penularan wabak COVID-19.

Antara aset yang terlibat dalam segmen Latihan Kesiagaan ialah Kereta Kebal PT-91M PENDEKAR, Kenderaan Perisai 8×8 GEMPITA, Kenderaan Berperisai Berantai ADNAN, Kenderaan Berperisai 4×4 LIPAN BARA, Meriam 105mm LG 1 MK III, Helikopter LOH A109 Agusta, SUPACAT, Kenderaan Pengangkut Senjata VAMTAC, Scrambler, 72 Bot Tempur dan Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB) dari TDM; KD MAHAWANGSA dan KD JEBAT dari TLDM dan Pesawat Pengangkut C130H, Pesawat Tempur SU 30 MKM SUKHOI dan Helikopter EC 725 dari TUDM selain dari penglibatan pegawai dan anggota dari ketumbukan 10 Briged Para, 4 Briged (Mek), Rejimen 881 Pasukan Udara Tentera Darat (PUTD), Gerup Gerak Khas (GGK), Pasukan Khas Laut (PASKAL) serta Pasukan Khas Udara (PASKAU).

Bagi Acara Perbarisan Statik Tempur pula telah diketuai oleh Kolonel Mohd Rosli bin Abu Bakar melibatkan lapan (8) detasmen yang terdiri daripada Detasmen TDM, TLDM, TUDM, MALBATT, GGK, PASKAL, PASKAU dan Pasukan Aturgerak Cepat (PARA).

Perbarisan pada pagi ini turut menyaksikan terbang lintas empat (4) buah pesawat helikopter ATM yang membawa bendera TDM, TLDM dan TUDM yang diketuai oleh Leftenan Kolonel Azhar Bin Abdul Rahman TUDM. Perbarisan ini juga turut diiringi oleh Pancaragam Gabungan ATM di bawah pimpinan Mejar Zaiful Azman Bin Zainol Abidin.

Turut diadakan ialah penyampaian Anugerah Kesiagaan Panglima Angkatan Tentera yang merupakan anugerah tertinggi di dalam ATM . Anugerah ini diberikan kepada Formasi atau Briged terbaik bagi Tentera Darat, Pasukan terbaik bagi TLDM dan Pangkalan Udara terbaik bagi TUDM. Penerima Anugerah Kesiagaan Panglima Angkatan Tentera menerima piala pusingan serta wang tunai sebanyak Ringgit Malaysia Lima Ribu (RM 5,000). Butiran penerima Anugerah Kesiagaan Panglima Angkatan Tentera seperti berikut:

a. Brigedier Jeneral Khairul Azmizal bin Ahmad Natal – Panglima 10 Bgd (Para).

b. Komander Asri bin Dasman TLDM – Pegawai Memerintah KD LEKIR.

c. Brig Jen Zulkiffli Bin Hj Musa TUDM – Komander Pangkalan Udara Kuantan.

Tahun ini merupakan tahun kedua ATM berhadapan dengan cabaran dalam menggalas tugas sekundernya bagi membantu negara mengekang penularan pandemik COVID-19. Namun situasi ini tidak menjadi penghalang untuk ATM terus memastikan kesejahteraan dan keselamatan rakyat sentiasa menjadi keutamaan. ATM sebagai benteng utama pertahanan Negara akan terus komited untuk mendokong misi dan wawasan Negara bagi menentukan keamanan dan kedaulatan Negara sentiasa terpelihara.
