RMN Increases Defence Cooperation and Understand with RSN in Exercise MALAPURA

LUMUT, 27 September 2021-The Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) through the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) continues to strengthen understanding and enhance interoperability with the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) through the conduct of Malaysia-Singapore Exercise (MALAPURA) 29/2021 which took place in the waters Straits of Melaka from 20 to 27 Sep 21.

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic that is plaguing the world today, the annual bilateral exercise, which is almost four decades old, has been successfully conducted and smoothly reflects the professionalism, capability and availability of the crew of both navies.

The 29th exercise is based on the Field Training Exercise (FTX) which is conducted online at the planning, opening and closing stages as well as a series of exercises at sea covering anti-air warfare, surface target firing, tactical maneuvers and boat operations, done in a contactless manner in accordance with the new norm.

A total of 4 RMN ships were involved in this exercise, namely KD LEKIU, KD LEKIR, KD HANDALAN and SUPER LYNX helicopters with Fast Combat Boat RMN while RSN also sent 4 assets namely RSS STALWART, RSS VIGILANCE, RSS VIGOR and S-70B helicopters. The Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) also participated in this exercise through the involvement of F/A–18D and HAWK aircraft.

The MAF will continue to enhance defence cooperation through the implementation of bilateral exercises with the armed forces of friendly countries to increase the level of alertness and interoperability to ensure the security of regional lands and waters is always guaranteed at all times.

LUMUT, 27 September 2021 – Angkatan Tentera Malaysia (ATM) menerusi Tentera Laut Diraja Malaysia (TLDM) terus memperkasakan kesefahaman dan meningkatkan interoperability bersama Tentera Laut Republik Singapura (TLRS) menerusi perlaksanaan Eksesais Malaysia-Singapura (MALAPURA) 29/2021 yang berlangsung di perairan Selat Melaka pada 20 hingga 27 Sep 21.

Walaupun berdepan dengan pandemik COVID-19 yang melanda dunia kini, Perlaksaan eksesais bilateral tahunan yang hampir menjangkau usia empat dekad ini tetap berjaya dilaksanakan dengan lancar menggambarkan sikap profesionalisme, keupayaan dan ketersediaan warga kedua-dua angkatan laut.

Perlaksanaan eksesais kali ke-29 tahun ini berkonsepkan Field Training Exercise (FTX) yang dilaksanakan secara atas talian di peringkat perancangan, pembukaan dan penutup serta beberapa siri latihan di laut meliputi peperangan anti-serangan udara, penembakan sasaran permukaan, manuvra taktikal dan pengoperasian bot yang diadakan secara contactless berpandukan norma baharu.

Sebanyak 4 buah TLDM yang terlibat dalam eksesais ini iaitu KD LEKIU, KD LEKIR, KD HANDALAN serta helikopter SUPER LYNX bersama Fast Combat Boat TLDM manakala TLRS turut menghantar 4 buah aset iaitu RSS STALWART, RSS VIGILANCE, RSS VIGOUR serta helikopter S-70B. Tentera Udara Diraja Malaysia (TUDM) turut tidak ketinggalan menyertai eksesais ini menerusi penglibatan pesawat F/A–18D dan HAWK.

ATM akan terus meningkatkan kerjasama pertahanan menerusi pelaksanaan eksesais bilateral bersama angkatan tentera negara sahabat bagi meningkatkan tahap kesiagaan dan interoperability bagi memastikan keselamatan daratan dan perairan serantau sentiasa terjamin sebilang masa.
