The Malaysia Defence Industry Has the Potential to Be a National Economic Catalyst

KUALA LUMPUR: The Chief of Army (COA), Gen Tan Sri Dato Seri Zamrose Mohd Zain accompanied the Deputy Minister of Defence (MENHAN), Tuan Hj Adly Zahari to complete the closing of the Innovation Day of the Ministry of Defence (KEMENTAH) at Wisma Pertahanan Auditorium on 19 January 2023.

KEMENTAH Innovation Day with the theme ‘Innovation Core Information, Quality and Creativity’ is a KEMENTAH initiative to spark the enthusiasm and creativity of the Ministry and the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) in showcasing their respective skills in order to improve the quality of KEMENTAH and ATM services.

“The involvement of KEMENTAH and MAF people is very welcome in establishing cooperation towards the development of the ministry’s innovation projects, especially in the defense industry covering maritime aerospace, weaponry, automotive and military common goods.

“The result of this collaboration is able to make the defense industry an economic catalyst in the long term and even make innovation-based products and services able to be commercialized”, said the Deputy Minister.

The organization of the program starting from 13 to 19 Jan 2023 received a total of 614 participants from KEMENTAH and MAF involving referees, exhibitors and several external agencies such as the Defense Science and Technology Research Institute (STRIDE), the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO), and Malaysia Research Accelerator for Technology and Innovation (MRANTI).

Immediately after the closing event, the Minister of Defence, Dato’ Seri Utama Hj Mohamad Hj Hasan also had the opportunity to visit the exhibition held.

Also present were the Deputy Secretary General (Policy) of the Ministry of Defence, Tuan Ahmad Nadzri Mohd Hassan and representatives of the service commanders.
