Presentation of the Honorary Maroon Beret and Senior Parachute Wing to CDF RTAF

Presentation of the Honorary Maroon Beret and Senior Parachute Wing to General Songwit Noonpackdee, Chief of Defence Force Royal Thai Armed Forces (CDF RTAF), in an event presided over by the Chief of the Malaysian Armed Forces, General Tan Sri Datuk Seri Mohammad bin Ab Rahman, on 28 October 2023, at Parawood Square, 8th Royal Malay Regiment (Para) in Melaka.

The event was also attended by the Army Chief of both nations. The Honorary Maroon Beret and Senior Parachute Wing are a source of pride for the 10th Brigade (Para), and the award is only given to specific individuals, senior military leaders, or government officials from particular countries as the highest recognition and honor presented by the Brigade.

The distinction of the Maroon Beret and Parachute Wing worn on the chest symbolizes true bravery and the spirit of leadership. General Songwit Noonpackdee is the 70th recipient of the Honorary maroon Beret and Senior Parachute Wing, following the Army Chief’s recent award on 21 October 2023.

This award serves as recognition and honor for General Songwit Noonpackdee during his official visit to Malaysia, which began on 26 October 2023. Prior to the award presentation, General Songwit Noonpackdee and the Royal Thai Armed Forces Delegation were treated to Dynamic Demonstrations, including Free Fall Parachuting, Unarmed Combat, Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC), Combat Swimming, Abseiling/Rappelling, Fast Roping, Sniper Insertion, Field Artillery and Air Defense, Raid, SPIE RIG featuring helicopters such as Agusta A109 LOH, EC 725 RMAF, MD 530, and a Human Wave demonstration.

The ceremony concluded with the 10th Brigade (Para) Paratroopers, led by the 9th Royal Malay Regiment (Para), performing the War Dance, symbolizing the courage of a Para warrior. The event concluded with the signing of the Guest Book.
