Building Trust and Lasting Friendship between Malaysia and Singapore Navies

KUALA LUMPUR, 7 October 2024 – The 32nd Navy-to-Navy Talks (N2NT) between the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) and the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) were successfully held at the Malaysian Armed Forces Officers’ Mess, marking a significant milestone in regional maritime cooperation.

Co-chaired by Rear Admiral Farizal Myeor, RMN’s Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations and Training, and Rear Admiral Augustine Lim Kian Hua, Head of Naval Operations for the RSN, the event underscored the growing relationship between the two maritime forces.

This edition of N2NT is particularly notable as it is the first to be held at an elevated level following an agreement made during the 31st Combined Naval Working Group (CNWG) meeting. Rear Admiral Farizal warmly welcomed the RSN delegation and expressed his delight in co-chairing this enhanced platform for dialogue.

The meeting commenced with bilateral discussions led by Rear Admiral Augustine Lim and continued with in-depth N2NT sessions and side discussions throughout the day. Delegates exchanged insights and explored ways to enhance cooperation, resulting in numerous positive outcomes and potential areas for further collaboration.

Both co-chairs expressed optimism about the discussions, noting that the outcomes of this meeting would serve as a solid foundation for strengthening cooperation between the two navies.

The success of the 32nd N2NT highlights the commitment of both countries to fostering trust, friendship, and maritime security through defence diplomacy.
