Explosion Incident Near MALBATT 850-12 Convoy from Marakah Camp

MAF confirmed that an explosion incident occurred on 7 Nov 24 (Thursday) at 1.54pm Lebanese time or 7.54pm Malaysian time, near Saida Stadium, Lebanon during the movement of members of Malaysian Battalion 850-12 (MALBATT 850-12) from Beirut to Camp Marakah.

The explosion targeted another public vehicle that was heading to Beirut but also caused damage to a bus carrying member of MALBATT 850-12. As a result of the incident, a total of six members of MALBATT 850 suffered injuries, namely five members involving MALLBATT 850-12 suffered various minor injuries including one with an injury to the hand (suspected closed fracture left arm) and another involving members of MALBATT 850-11 who also suffered minor injuries.

The member who was injured in the hand was immediately taken to Hamood Hospital in Saida to receive treatment from MALBATT 850-11 Medical Officer.

MAF will continue to closely monitor the development of this situation and will notify any updates related to this incident from time to time.

MAF remains focused on the level of security and well-being of its members while carrying out peacekeeping missions under the banner of the United Nations (UN).
