Defence Geospatial Committee Meeting (JGP) Series 24/2025 Focuses on Strengthening Future Force Readiness Technology 18th July 202518th July 2025 KUALA LUMPUR, 16 July 2025 – The Chief of Staff of the Malaysian Armed Forces Headquarters (KS MK ATM), Lieutenant General Dato’ Azhan bin Hj Md Othman, chaired the 24th Defence Geospatial Committee (JGP) Meeting, held at Wisma Perwira ATM. Also present was the Director General of Survey and Mapping Malaysia (JUPEM) and Honorary Director of Military Survey, Colonel (K) Dato’ LSr Hazri bin Hassan, who serves as the committee’s adviser. Held biannually, the JGP meeting deliberates on policy matters concerning the types, specifications, and standards for various defence geospatial products. It also discusses prioritisation of areas and update timelines for mapping and geospatial data—crucial for military operations, training, and joint exercises. The meeting aligns with the objectives of developing a Future Force (Angkatan Masa Hadapan). Mastery of geospatial intelligence is considered a critical component to ensure that the Malaysian Armed Forces remain relevant and maintain high readiness levels against modern threats. JUPEM plays a vital role in delivering comprehensive geospatial defence services to the Malaysian Armed Forces.
