KUALA LUMPUR, 29 JAN – Admiral Tan Sri Abdul Rahman Ayob, the Chief of the Navy, has delivered the New Year Message 2024, marking one year since he assumed the position as the 18th Chief of the Navy on 27 January 2023, at the Ministry of Defense.

The ceremony was attended by around 400 Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) personnel from the Klang Valley region and broadcasted live to all RMN Command Headquarters and Formation Headquarters across Malaysia.

Also present at the event were Deputy Chief of the Navy, Vice Admiral Dato’ Zulhelmy bin Ithnain; President of the National Defense Studies Center (PUSPAHANAS), Rear Admiral Datuk Sabri bin Zali, and other top RMN leadership.

Among the recent developments highlighted by the Navy Chief was the Malaysian Government’s approval, through the Ministry of Finance (MOF), of the acquisition request for 3 units of Littoral Mission Ship Batch 2 (LMSB2) with combat capabilities for RMN. He also informed that once the Letter of Intent (LOI) is issued, Technical Specification and Contract Clause negotiations will be conducted between RMN and the selected firm. RMN aims to finalize all contract document requirements before mid this year.

In addition to conveying his aspirations and directives for 2024, the Navy Chief took the opportunity to remind all Navy personnel to always adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) while performing duties and responsibilities. He also emphasized that RMN will not compromise in its efforts to combat misconduct such as bullying, corruption, misappropriation, and abuse of power, which would undoubtedly tarnish the image of RMN.
