Kuantan, July 15, 2019 – Minister of Defence, YB Mohamad bin Sabu, his deputy, YB Senator Liew Chin Tong and MinDef’s top leaders witnessed the EXOCET MM40 Block II and SEA SKUA missile firing in conjunction with Exercise KERISMAS 26/2019 and Ex TAMING SARI for 19/2019 at South China Sea waters this morning.

YB Minister noted that this success has proven the ability of RMN fleet assets to meet operational needs in the South China Sea. Indirectly, the conduct of this exercise will also have a positive impact on the maritime community in the East Coast of Peninsular especially their confidence in the ability and general MAF’s commitments and particularly the RMN, in maintaining the security and safety of the state waters in the waters of the South China Sea.

The opening ceremony of Ex KERISMAS 26/2019 was officiated by Chief of Navy, Admiral Datuk Mohd Reza bin Mohd Sany on July 2, 2019. Ex KERISMAS 26/2019 saw the participation of RMN assets namely KD LEKIU, KD KASTURI , KD GAGAH SAMUDERA, KD LAKSAMANA TAN PUSMAH, KD LAKSAMANA HANG NADIM, KD MAHAMIRU, KD KELANTAN, KD BAUNG, KD PENDEKAR, KD GANYANG, KD PAHANG, KD PERANTAU, Super Lynx and Fennec helicopters and KD TUNKU ABDUL RAHMAN submarine. RMAF aircraft Sukhoi SU-30MKM, EC725 and B200T also participated in this exercise.

Also present were Ministry of Defence Secretary-General, Datuk Seri Mohd Zuki bin Ali, Chief of the Navy, Admiral Datuk Mohd Reza bin Mohd Sany, and senior officials from the Ministry and RMN.
