A total of 7,032 individuals comprising military personnel, families and civil servants living in the Armed Forces Family Home (RKAT) in the camp and around Kuching have been listed to receive vaccinations through the program.

According to YB Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri bin Yaakob, the implementation of the Pandu Lalu Vaccination Program will be expanded periodically to include military camps and the deployment of MAF personnel throughout the country. A total of 20 drive-through vaccination centers will be established in military camps in Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak to provide convenience and comfort to vaccination recipients among MAF personnel and their families as well as civil servants of the Ministry of Defence.

According to him, the time period of the pilot vaccination plan will start on 1 July to 5 August 2021 to ensure herd immunity among the Ministry of Defence and MAF staff will be able to achieve the target of 100%. However, it depends on the receipt of vaccine supply from the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH).

Also present at the review session were the Minister of Local Government and Housing, Deputy Minister of Defence, Secretary General of the Ministry of Defence, Chief of Army, Commander of the First Malaysian Infantry Division, Director General of MAF Health Services and several Senior MAF Officers.

In addition, the MAF, through the Army has set out to implement the Jiwa Murni Project (PJM) by creating a Combat Medic Vaccination Team (CMVT) as one of the efforts to assist the National COVID-19 Immunization Program (PICK) by implementing vaccination services to rural areas. The CMVT action plan targets 200 to 250 people to be vaccinated within 8 hours a day depending on vaccine supply.

Based on the duration of this daily operation, the complete vaccination process at each vaccination center is expected to take 3 to 4 days depending on the capacity of the vaccine recipient.

The program is expected to begin no later than the end of June and will last for a month, depending on the supply of vaccines provided by the MOH. CMVT personnel involved in several remote areas in Sabah and Sarawak will be mobilised using MAF assets.

In addition, there are 5 locations for vaccination that have been identified in Sarawak, namely at the Buduk Nur Community Hall in Ba’kelalan, Sang Anau, Long Busan and Long Unai in Bukit Mabong and Nanga Ngungun in Kanowit. It is estimated that more than 2,000 people will receive the vaccine at these locations. The Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces support the wishes and aspirations of the government to create herd immunity aimed at breaking this chain of COVID-19 epidemics. It is also to ensure that MAF personnel and their families as well as civil servants of the Ministry of Defence, are at minimal risk of being infected with this epidemic.
