KUANTAN, 21 November 2022- First Admiral Baharudin bin Wan Md Nor, Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff J3 of the Joint Force Headquarters (JFHQ) has officiated Exercise CARAT 2022 at the Warfare Center, Camp Al-Sultan Abdullah, JFHQ.

This exercise involves the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) and the United States Navy (USN) from the Seventh Fleet which began on 21 to 30 November 2022 around Kuantan and the waters of the South China Sea.

This exercise aims to increase the involvement of the military of both countries in maritime aspects at sea and to foster, coordinate, share and gain a better understanding of the operational environment. In addition, this exercise also aims to increase combat capability and maritime security sharing between the two countries in accordance with international laws, norms and standards.

The CARAT 22 Exercise Concept is based on Maritime Security which will be implemented in two phases, namely the Port Phase (starting from November 21 to 25) and the Sea Phase (starting from November 26 to 29).

The CARAT 22 exercise this time involved a total of 303 participants from the MAF and 300 participants from USN.

Also present at the event were Captain Muszaffar Khan, Defense Attache Office of the United States Embassy and Captain Walter Mainor, Commander Destroyer Squadron 15 as well as representatives from the three MAF services.

KUANTAN, 21 November 2022- Laksamana Pertama Baharudin bin Wan Md Nor, Timbalan Asisten Ketua Staf J3 Markas Angkatan Bersama (MK AB) telah merasmikan Eksesais CARAT 2022 di Pusat Olah Perang, Kem Al-Sultan Abdullah, MK AB.

Eksesais ini melibatkan Angkatan Tentera Malaysia (ATM) dan Tentera Laut Amerika Syarikat (TLAS) dari Fleet Ketujuh yang bermula pada 21 sehingga 30 November 2022 di sekitar Kuantan dan perairan Laut China Selatan.

Eksesais ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan penglibatan tentera kedua-dua negara dalam aspek maritim di laut dan bagi memupuk, menyelaras, berkongsi serta mendapatkan kefahaman yang lebih baik terhadap persekitaran operasi. Selain itu eksesais ini juga bermatlamat untuk meningkatkan keupayaan tempur dan perkongsian keselamatan maritim diantara kedua-dua negara selaras dengan undang-undang, norma dan piawaian antarabangsa.

Konsep Eksesais CARAT 22 adalah berdasarkan kepada keselamatan Maritim (Maritime Security) yang mana akan dilaksanakan dalam dua fasa iaitu Fasa Pelabuhan (bermula 21 sehingga 25 November) dan Fasa di Laut (bermula 26 sehingga 29 November).

Eksesais CARAT 22 pada kali ini melibatkan seramai 303 orang peserta dari ATM serta 300 orang peserta TLAS.

Turut hadir pada majlis tersebut adalah Captain Muszaffar Khan, Defence Attache Office Kedutaan Amerika Syarikat dan Captain Walter Mainor, Commander Destroyer Squadron 15 serta wakil dari ketiga-tiga perkhidmatan ATM.
