Seberang Perak, Perak – A total of 2 officers and 32 other ranks were involved in Exercise COPE TAUFAN Series 1/23. Taking this opportunity, Para Trooper Pathfinder Company (Para) conducted Exercise BLACK SHADOW Series 2/2023 as an affiliated unit with BG HORNBILL, who was executing Exercise KANOPI KENYALANG from 16 to 24 Sept 23 around the general area in Seberang Perak, Perak.
In general, the concept of Exercise BLACK SHADOW Series 2/23 was a joint exercise between the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) and United States Pacific Air Forces (USPACAF), involving the movement of aircraft in conjunction with Exercise COPE TAUFAN and static-line jumps with BG HORNBILL 8 RRR (Para) in Exercise KANOPI KENYALANG. This exercise focused on the training related to the tasks and roles of PANDURA (Para) Company Reconnaissance Platoons, which function as rapidly deployable reconnaissance elements through Military Free Fall infiltration methods and subsequently perform reconnaissance tasks in small-unit operations to assist BG HORNBILL as reconnaissance elements in the enemy area and carry out reconnaissance and sniper tasks in eliminating High-Value Targets (HVTs) upon orders. Subsequently, the exercise included the withdrawal and After-Action Review (AAR).
This exercise achieved its objectives by providing a realistic picture to officers and members regarding the tasks and roles of special forces in supporting the 10th Para Brigade’s shock operations, aligning with the Warrior Profile of the 10th Brigade (Para), which is “Knowledgeable and Skilled,” and the 3M Synergy in the First Core Area of the 29th Chief of Army’s Orders, which is “Enhancing Readiness.”
