Malaysian Armed Forces Unveils Future-Ready Restructuring Plan – A Leap Towards Technological Advancement and Enhanced Defence

LUMUT, 10th October – The Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) is set to undergo a restructuring as a forward-looking force that aligns with technological advancements, future challenges, and public expectations.

MAF Chief General Tan Sri Datuk Seri Mohammad Abd Rahman stated that this restructuring will be carried out through the National Military Strategic Plan 2.0.

The capabilities of all three service branches under MAF will be holistically enhanced, focusing on the 3M trilogy: Man, Machine, and Method.

This restructuring aligns with the white paper on defence approved by the Malaysian government on 2nd December 2019, which clearly defines the strategic direction of national defence until 2030, emphasising the defence of sovereignty, territorial integrity, and Malaysia’s interests.

The vital components of this defence strategy are actively being implemented to build a forward-looking force as the nation’s shield, as highlighted during the celebration of the 90th Anniversary of the Malaysian Armed Forces at the RMN Lumut Base.

Additionally, the event included the presentation of the Chief of Defence Forces’ (CDF) Readiness Awards for the best formations or brigades in the Army, the best units in the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN), and the best airbases in the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF).
