KINTA KINABALU, September 3, 2019 – Army Chief (PTD), General Dato’ Seri Commander Hj Ahmad Hasbullah bin Hj Mohd Nawawi has officiated the Flag Lowering Event for Task Force 450 (TF 450) and the 5th Infantry Brigade Headquarters (5 Bde HQ) ) at the Royal Artillery Sixth Regiment (6 RAD) parade square, Lok Kawi Camp, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah on 3 September 2019, 3 Muharram 1441 Hijrah.

The ceremony was held as a military regiment. It is intended to commemorate and reveal the history of a formation or team. HQ 5 Bde was established on 1 January 1964 in Tawau, Sabah. On 9 October 1970, HQ 5 Bde was transferred to the Lok Kawi Camp, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Today’s event saw 49-year-old HQ 5 Bde at the Lok Kawi Camp, relocated and moved to Paradise Camp, Kota Belud, Sabah.

In line with the modernization and determination by the Malaysian Army leaders that 2019 is a year of training and alignment, there is a need for Army to re-align its command structure. One of the needs of the alignment was to streamline the structure of the Army organization in Sabah by relocating the HQ TF 450 to the Lok Kawi Camp to enhance command, control and communication efficiency in maintaining Sabah’s peace and security.

The Lok Kawi Camp will be the governing body of the HQ TF 450. The HQ TF 450 was established on March 27, 2014 at the Lok Kawi Camp and moved to the Paradise Camp, Kota Belud on April 15, 2015. The HQ TF 450 was established as a result of the Lahad Datu Incident and is in line with developments geo-strategic in Sabah. The HQ TF 450, a nucleus of a Division, serves to carry out the task of planning, directing and controlling all land operations in Sabah. In addition, the TF 450 also changed its designation to the Fifth Malaysian Infantry Division (5th Div).

The event continued with the launch of the Book of the Army Volume Four (DMPTD) Book and DMPTD Poetry Compilation followed by witnessing the demonstration of Army capabilities by 21 Special Forces (21 GGK). The event was also graced with performances by the Royal Armor Corps Headquarters.

The highlight of the event was the ceremony of lowering the TF 450 and 5 Bde flags, followed by a final blast as a symbol of HQ TF 450’s designation change to 5 Div as well as the HQ 5 Bde transfer from Lok Kawi Camp, Kota Kinabalu to Kem Paradise, Kota Belud . Subsequently, the TF 450 flag was handed over to the COA by the 5th Div Commander, Major General Dato’ Mohamad Khir bin Abdullah as the symbol of the TF 450 ceremony. For the 5th Bde, Brigadier General Muhammad Hafizuddeain bin Jantan handed the flag to the COA as a symbol for the flag being raised at the Paradise Camp, Kota Belud, Sabah.

Also present were Deputy Chief of Army, Lieutenant-General Dato’ Hasagaya bin Abdullah, Army Western Field Commander, Lieutenant-General Dato’ Haji Nazir bin Haji Mami, Army Eastern Field Commander, Lieutenant-General Datuk Wira Zamrose bin Mohd Zain and Officers and Members of the Army at the Lok Kawi Camp.

ACARA MENURUNKAN BENDERA ANGKATAN PETUGAS 450 DAN PALUAN BERUNDUR MARKAS BRIGED KELIMA INFANTRI MALAYSIA

KOTA KINABALU, 3 September 2019 – Panglima Tentera Darat (PTD), Jeneral Dato’ Seri Panglima Hj Ahmad Hasbullah bin Hj Mohd Nawawi telah menyempurnakan Acara Menurunkan Bendera Angkatan Petugas 450 (AT 450) dan Paluan Berundur Markas Briged Kelima Infantri Malaysia (MK 5 Bgd) bertempat di Padang Kawad Rejimen Keenam Artileri Diraja (6 RAD), Kem Lok Kawi, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah pada 3 September 2019 bersamaan 3 Muharram 1441 Hijrah.

Upacara paluan berundur dilaksanakan, adalah sebagai satu aktiviti rejimental ketenteraan. Ia bertujuan bagi memperingati dan menzahirkan sejarah sesebuah formasi atau pasukan. MK 5 Bgd telah ditubuhkan pada 1 Januari 1964 di Tawau, Sabah. Pada 9 Oktober 1970, MK 5 Bgd telah berpindah ke Kem Lok Kawi, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Acara pada hari ini menyaksikan MK 5 Bgd yang telah bertapak selama 49 tahun di Kem Lok Kawi, akan berpindah dan diaturgerak ke Kem Paradise, Kota Belud, Sabah.

Selaras dengan pemodenan dan penetapan oleh pucuk pimpinan Tentera Darat Malaysia (TDM) bahawa tahun 2019 merupakan tahun latihan dan penjajaran, terdapat keperluan TDM untuk menjajarkan semula struktur pemerintahan. Salah satu daripada keperluan penjajaran tersebut adalah memperkemas struktur organisasi TDM di Sabah dengan menempatkan semula MK AT 450 di Kem Lok Kawi bagi mempertingkatkan kecekapan pemerintahan, kawalan dan komunikasi dalam menjaga keamanan dan keselamatan negeri Sabah.

Kem Lok Kawi akan menjadi lokasi pemerintahan MK AT 450. MK AT 450 telah ditubuhkan pada 27 Mac 2014 di Kem Lok Kawi dan berpindah ke Kem Paradise, Kota Belud pada 15 April 2015. MK AT 450 ditubuhkan berlanjutan daripada Insiden Lahad Datu dan selari dengan perkembangan geo-strategik semasa di Sabah. MK AT 450 yang merupakan elemen nukleus sebuah Divisyen berfungsi untuk melaksanakan tugas merancang, memerintah dan mengawal semua operasi daratan di Sabah. Selain itu, AT 450 juga bertukar designasi kepada Divisyen Kelima Infantri Malaysia (5 Div).

Ketibaan PTD, Jeneral Dato’ Seri Panglima Hj Ahmad Hasbullah bin Hj Mohd Nawawi ke acara tersebut dimulakan dengan penerimaan tabik hormat daripada kontinjen perbarisan yang terdiri daripada anggota TDM di bawah naungan AT 450 berkekuatan 12 pegawai dan 685 anggota lain-lain pangkat dengan diketuai oleh Pegawai Memerintah Batalion Ke-22 Rejimen Askar Melayu Diraja (22 RAMD), Leftenan Kolonel Mohd Ridzwan bin Abdullah.

Acara diteruskan dengan pelancaran Kompilasi Buku Dari Meja Panglima Tentera Darat (DMPTD) Jilid Keempat dan Kompilasi Puisi DMPTD dengan menyaksikan demonstrasi keupayaan TDM oleh anggota 21 Gerup Gerak Khas (21 GGK) bagi merealisasikan gimik pelancaran DMPTD Jilid Keempat. Acara turut diserikan dengan persembahan daripada Pancaragam Pusat Kor Armor Diraja.

Kemuncak acara berkenaan adalah upacara menurunkan bendera AT 450 dan 5 Bgd dengan diiringi oleh tiupan paluan akhir (last post) sebagai simbolik pertukaran designasi MK AT 450 kepada 5 Div serta perpindahan MK 5 Bgd dari Kem Lok Kawi, Kota Kinabalu ke Kem Paradise, Kota Belud. Seterusnya, bendera AT 450 diserahkan kepada PTD oleh Panglima 5 Div, Mejar Jeneral Dato’ Mohamad Khir bin Abdullah sebagai tanda persemadian AT 450. Bagi bendera 5 Bgd, Panglima 5 Bgd, Brigadier Jeneral Muhammad Hafizuddeain bin Jantan telah menyerahkan bendera tersebut kepada PTD dan seterusnya diserahkan kepada wakil anggota 5 Bgd sebagai simbolik untuk bendera berkenaan dikibarkan di Kem Paradise, Kota Belud, Sabah.

Turut hadir adalah Timbalan Panglima Tentera Darat, Leftenan Jeneral Dato’ Hasagaya bin Abdullah, Panglima Medan Barat Tentera Darat, Leftenan Jeneral Dato’ Haji Nazir bin Haji Mami, Panglima Medan Timur Tentera Darat, Leftenan Jeneral Datuk Wira Zamrose bin Mohd Zain serta Pegawai dan Anggota TDM di Kem Lok Kawi.
