Malaysia and Brunei Conducts Exercise MERTAK BERSATU 12/2022

BRUNEI, Sept 14 – The Malaysian Army (TDM) through the First Malaysian Infantry Division (1 Div) has carried out Exercise MERTAK BERSATU Series 12/2022 with the Royal Brunei Army (TDDB) located at the Field Firing Area (FFA), Binturan, from 10 to 19 September.

The 1 Div headquarters through a message on its social media informed that the annual bilateral exercise has involved a total of 6 officers and 55 members from the Third Battalion of the Royal Ranger Regiment (3 RRR).

“In addition, support units under the auspices of the 9th Malaysian Infantry Brigade (9 Bde) were also involved throughout the exercise,” explained 1 Div.

1 Div also added that this exercise symbolizes continuous close cooperation between the Army of these two countries with the concept of Cross Training Exercise (CTX) and Field Training Exercise (FTX) which focuses on 81mm Mortar firing.

“Among the objectives outlined in this exercise is to share knowledge between the two land forces,

“In addition to mastering and improving professionalism in the handling of 81mm Mortar weapons by TDM and TDDB,

“Through this exercise it is also able to strengthen the military relationship between the two countries as well as provide opportunities for interaction especially for the members to foster camaraderie,” explained HQ 1 Div.

According to 1 Div also, the conduct of this exercise is in line with the 4th Pillar of the Army Commander’s Supreme Command which is to enhance defense cooperation with friendly countries through sharing, information exchange and training.
